About Kayak Flatwater Meetup

Hi, this is the Triangle's best Meetup site for folks who like to paddle on flatwater (not whitewater). Kayaking with others is what we are all about. We love to have fun, so come on out and join us.

We are a group of recreational paddlers. We are not Tour Guides or Instructors.

You must be 18 to join this Meetup. Properly supervised children are allowed on paddle trips.

It is a Coast Guard Requirement that you have a Personal Flotation Device (PFD) with you for each person in your boat. We want you to wear it when kayaking with us.

All participants in Kayak Flatwater Meetup trips do so as common adventurers. The group or its individual members may coordinate paddling trips but no one is considered leader of a trip. All participants take the responsibility for making their own decisions including, but not limited to, whether to participate on any particular water body or section, what equipment they use, the routes they may choose to paddle, whether their skill levels and abilities are appropriate for the activity or whether climate and water conditions are appropriate for their participation."

Paddle trips posted on the Calendar are led by an Organizer. Local impromptu paddles may be posted on the Message board by anyone looking for a buddy to paddle with. All paddle trips should describe the recommended skill level and expected distance.

It's a good idea to carry ID, insurance card, & emergency contact number at all times.
